The three terror suspects — Panna Ismail, 38, “Police” Fakruddin, 35 and Bilal Malik, 25 — who were arrested at Puttur in Chittoor district on Saturday were allegedly involved in terror attacks in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, including an attempt to attack BJP leader L.K. Advani and triggering a blast at the BJP office in Bengaluru on the eve of the state polls earlier in 2013.

The three terror suspects — Panna Ismail, 38, “Police” Fakruddin, 35 and Bilal Malik, 25 — who were arrested at Puttur in Chittoor district on Saturday were allegedly involved in terror attacks in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, including an attempt to attack BJP leader L.K. Advani and triggering a blast at the BJP office in Bengaluru on the eve of the state polls earlier in 2013. The suspects belonging to the Islamic Defence Force attempted to blast a pipe bomb during Mr Advani’s Jan Chetna Yatra in Madurai. They had planted the bombs under a causeway in Madurai district. The suspects are Madurai locals, and were staying in Puttur by posing to be electricians and traders. They were carrying '5 lakh reward each on their heads, and a total of '20 lakh was announced by the TN government. AP director-general of police B. Prasada Rao, said: “The Tamil Nadu police were searching for them since July. Non-bailable warrants are pending against them.” Ismail, Fakruddin and Malik were earlier named along with Abu Backer Siddique, 45, by the Tamil Nadu police in a July 24 look-out notice after the investigations into the murder of BJP and state Sangh Parivar leaders. The Bengaluru police had identified the trio as key operatives in the bomb blast at the BJP headquarters at Bengaluru. CCTV footage from the blast site revealed that Ismail had planted the bomb, which injured 16 persons.
