2 militants killed in encounter

SRINAGAR: Two militants, believed to be Pakistani nationals, were killed in a gun fight with the security forces in Hajin area of Jammu and Kashmir’s northern Bandipore district on Thursday. The police said the duo was involved in a series of terror attacks including beheading of civilians in the Hajin belt.

A police spokesman said that the security forces including the Army, J&K police’s counterinsurgency Special Operations Group (SOG) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) conducted a cordon-and-search operation in Hajin’s Parra Mohalla. During the operation, militants hiding in a private house opened fire on the security forces, triggering an encounter, he added.

“Two terrorists were killed during the encounter. Huge quantity of arms and ammunition recovered from the site,” a defence spokesman here said.
