Angry farmers said the BJP had gone back on its poll promise of fixing sugarcane price at Rs 450 per quintal.

The farmers, led by the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) , also threatened to launch an agitation across the state if their demands were not met by the government.

Lucknow: Hundreds of sugarcane farmers burnt their crop outside the Vidhan Sabha here on Saturday and raised slogans against the Yogi Adityanath government, terming the Rs 10 hike in state advisory price (SAP) as “paltry and negligible.”
