Patna: After calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi “a fake OBC”, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has stoked a controversy again by raising questions on his claims that he belongs to “most backward caste.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a political rally in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, had said that he was not in favour of caste politics but few political leaders have been opposing him because he belongs to a backward caste.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday reacted to Prime Minister’s statement and said that “On April 20, I told everyone that after projecting himself as an OBC, Narendra Modi Ji will call himself a person belonging to the most backward caste. The fact is that he is an upper caste by birth but backward only on papers. He will continue to say these things to gain in the elections”.

Tejashwi Yadav’s tweet against Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the crucial fourth phase of polls triggered sharp reactions from the NDA camp in Bihar. BJP leaders in Patna said that Tejashwi Yadav has been giving “objectionable” and “arrogant” remarks on the instructions of Congress party.

A week earlier, Tejashwi Yadav had said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was “a fake OBC” and he was trying to influence voters by portraying himself as a person of backward caste. He had also claimed in his April 20 tweet that there were no OBC officials in the Prime Minister’s office.

“Whenever he is in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra he becomes backward. Everyone knows that he has been saying this to gain in the Lok Sabha elections. His tricks won’t work in Bihar this time”, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said.
