Airport parking fee relief ends tomorrow

While the Delhi airport is not run by the AAI but operated privately, the free parking here too is only valid till Nov. 29.

New Delhi: Come November 29, people will have to pay up for parking their vehicles at Airports Authority of India (AAI)-run airports, with the free parking arrangement set to end on the midnight of November 28. The parking was made free from November 14 in view of the cash crisis following the demonetisation move by the government, but this will end on Monday.

The Kolkata and Chennai airports are among the ones run by the AAI. While Delhi airport is operated by the private GMR-led DIAL, the free parking here too is only valid till November 29. DIAL sources said Delhi airport would implement whatever has been decided by the government so far but in view of the AAI announcement, people may have to pay for their parking at Delhi airport too from Tuesday. The AAI has made arrangements for digital payment at all airports from Tuesday while Delhi airport sources said they were fully prepared to accept payment through digital mode as well from Tuesday.

The AAI said, “Free of cost car parking services provided by AAI with effect from the midnight of 14th November, 2016, will end on the midnight of 28th November, 2016.”
