Anti-social elements behind unrest, says Yogi Adityanath

Talking to reporters in Gorakhpur, the chief minister said that those involved in creating anarchy on the campus would not be spared.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh  chief minister Yogi Adityanath, on Wednesday, said the recent incidents in the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) were a result of a ‘conspiracy’ of anti-social elements.

Talking to reporters in Gorakhpur, the chief minister said that those involved in creating anarchy on the campus would not be spared.

“Prima facie investigations suggest that it is a conspiracy by anti-social elements”, he said.

The CM said the proctorial board of the university should have taken timely measures to ensure that the trouble did not escalate.

“There should be better communication between students, teachers and vice chancellors of central universities to prevent such incidents in future”, he added.

Mr Yogi lashed out at opposition parties and said that the law and order situation in the state had improved even though his political opponents were
spreading canard against government. It may be recalled that a number of students, were injured in a baton-charge by the cops in the university on Saturday night.
against an alleged eve- teasing incident turned violent.

Multiple inquiries have been ordered into the violence on the campus.
