Mayawati gets reprieve from Allahabad HC in land case

Lucknow: BSP president Mayawati has got a major reprieve from the Allahabad High Court which has dismissed a petition filed against her in a land scam case related to her native village Badlapur.

The petition was filed by one Sandeep Bhati who had sought a CBI inquiry into illegal construction made by her on land that had been forcibly occupied by the BSP leader. Chief Justice D.B. Bhonsle and Justice Yeshwant Varma dismissed the petition that claimed that a 47,433 square metre plot had been declared vacant and sold to Ms Mayawati and her family members.
