New Delhi: The deadline for submission of suggestions on the draft National Education Policy would be extended by one month from July 1, Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank informed the Upper House of the Parliament on Thursday.
The minister was responding to the lawmaker from the All India Trinamool Congress Derek O’Brien who suggested to extend the time for seeking public replies.
The lawmaker stated that education being a part of the concurrent list, state governments should be consulted before finalising the NEP.
The minister said that consultations were held at all levels to incorporate all suggestions, The Hindu reported.
The Committee for Draft National Education Policy, chaired by Dr. K. Kasturirangan, submitted its report on May 31, 2019.
The Committee was constituted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in June 2017.
