Sri Lanka attack: 10 Indians dead, says India mission

The number of Indian casualties in Sunday’s horrific bomb blasts in Sri Lanka had earlier climbed to eight on Monday from three on Sunday.

New Delhi: The total number of Indian casualties in Sunday’s horrific bomb blasts in Sri Lanka climbed to 10 on Tuesday. “Regret to confirm the deaths of two more Indian nationals A. Maregowda and H. Puttaraju in the blasts in Sri Lanka on Sunday, taking the total number of Indian deaths in the tragedy to 10 as of now,” the Indian high commission in Colombo said.

The number of Indian casualties in Sunday’s horrific bomb blasts in Sri Lanka had earlier climbed to eight on Monday from three on Sunday.

“We sadly confirm the deaths of the following two individuals in the blasts yesterday: — K.G. Hanumantharayappa (and) M Rangappa,” the Indian High Commission in Colombo had said on Monday, adding  a few hours later, “We regret to confirm the deaths of two more individuals in the blasts yesterday:  Vemurai Tulsiram (and) - S.R. Nagaraj.” Later on Monday evening, it had been confirmed that one more Indian national H. Shivakumar had died in the blasts, taking the total number of Indian casualties then to eight.

Three other Indians were confirmed dead on Sunday in the eight deadly bomb blasts in the island nation that has claimed hundreds of lives so far.

The names of the three deceased Indians on Sunday had been identified as Lakshmi, Narayan Chandrashekhar and Ramesh.

External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj had said on Sunday that she had conveyed to her Sri Lankan counterpart that India is ready to provide all humanitarian assistance and also ready to despatch medical teams as well. India had also strongly condemned the serial blasts.
