Nahida Manzoor first Kashmiri woman to scale Mount Everest

It said that Nahida who is a resident of Jammu & Kashmir “has been passionate about the snow peaks and took to the mountains at a very young age.”

Srinagar: Nahida Manzoor has become first Kashmiri woman to scale the Mount Everest.

The 26-year-old Nahida had along with her group left the base-camp for the summit on Saturday and on Tuesday she climbed the Everest successfully.

Announcing this on its Facebook page, Transcend Adventures, the company which sponsored the event said, “The Fourth summit of the day is Ms Nahida Manzoor along with her Sherpa Guide Mr Nima Kancha.”

It said that Ms Nahida who is a resident of Jammu & Kashmir “has been passionate about the snow peaks and took to the mountains at a very young age.”

Ms. Nahida had on March 4 started crowd funding to support her “dream journey”.

On Tuesday morning, two J&K police personnel (Senior-grade constables) Nazir Ahmed and Falil Singh had also successfully scaled the Everest.
