UP: Tension in village after rape victim's kin shot dead

Muzaffarnagar: Tension prevailed on Tuesday in Akberpur Suneti village in Shamli district after a 50-year-old kin of gangrape victim was gunned down at his residence, even as police and PAC personnel were deployed in large numbers.

Brahm Singh was killed on Monday after some persons broke into his house at the village in Shamli district and opened fire after he refused to withdraw the gangrape-murder case of his sister-in-law, SP Ajaypal Sharma said.

The woman was allegedly gangraped and murdered on July 4. Her body was found in the jungle.

Police has registered a case against the accused identified as, Saber, Mustafa, Mobin, Meshar, Amjad, Sufiyan and Pervez, Sharma said.
