Mauritius PM arrives ahead of Pravasi Divas

The Mauritius PM will leave for Prayagraj on Thursday to visit the historic Kumbh Mela.

New Delhi: Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth reached New Delhi on Sunday to participate in the 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention at Varanasi, which starts Tuesday. Both the Union government and the Uttar Pradesh government are pulling out all stops to make the event in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency a success.

Mr Jugnauth will leave for Varanasi on Monday where he will meet external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj. On Tuesday, he will attend the inauguration ceremony of the 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention at Varanasi. He will also meet Mr Modi there and will undertake a boat ride that will be followed by the Ganga Arti.

Mauritius, which is part of the African continent, has culturally strong ties with India, with a large segment of the population being of Indian origin.

The Mauritius PM will leave for Prayagraj on Thursday to visit the historic Kumbh Mela. He will later leave for Mumbai where he will participate in the Republic Day parade at Shivaji Park.
