Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has removed the secretary of the UP Haj Committee, R.P. Singh, over the controversy over the saffron paint on the Haj office boundary wall.

The state government had earlier issued a notice to Mr R.P. Singh, asking him to explain why the boundary wall was painted saffron and then repainted too.

UP minister of state for Muslim Waqf and Haj Mohsin Raza had earlier asked the department’s principal secretary to seek the explanation on this issue from Mr Singh.

The minister said that the “media turned the issue into a majopr controversy.”
