The CBI raid comes a year after the Enforcement Directorate carried out searches at two locations of Amnesty International India in Bengaluru for allegedly bypassing the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act after they were denied permission by the home ministry.

Bengaluru: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday searched the offices of Amnesty International India and Indians for Amnesty International Trust (Amnesty India) in Bengaluru and New Delhi over alleged irregularities in foreign funding.

The CBI raid comes a year after the Enforcement Directorate carried out searches at two locations of Amnesty International India in Bengaluru for allegedly bypassing the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act after they were denied permission by the home ministry.

However, the human right watchdog labelled the raids by the Central Bureau of Investigation as “a pattern of harassment for standing up and speaking out against human rights violations in India”.
