Patna: The Nitish Kumar led NDA government, facing attack over rising incidents of sexual abuse in the shelter home case, was in for another setback when two high profile murders rocked the state on Tuesday.

Questions on the law and order situation were raised after an undersecretary ranked officer posted in the department of planning was murdered at his official residence in Patna. The deceased was later identified as Rajiv Kumar who was living at  Hardinge Road area which is considered as a high-security zone of the state capital where most of the state government officials reside.

The murder of the undersecretary-level officer comes just a few hours after RLSP leader Manish Sahani was shot dead in Bihar’s Vaishali district.  

Sources said that Mr Sahani was inside his office when two motorcycle-borne assailants fired at him and fled the spot. The killers have not been arrested by the police so far.
