Next CWC meet to be held in Ahmedabad on Feb 26

New Delhi: Taking the battle straight to the Prime Minister’s doorstep, the Congress on Thursday announced that the next meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) would be held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on February 26.

The crucial meeting, which takes place before the general elections will deliberate on poll strategy and candidate selection and will have three members of the Gandhi family attending — Congress president Rahul Gandhi, his mother and predecessor Sonia Gandhi and his sister newly-inducted general secretary of Uttar Pradesh (East) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

The party had taken a decision in its plenary held last year to hold the CWC meeting outside Delhi. The last CWC was held in Wardha in Maharashtra.

The CWC is the executive committee of the party. It is headed by the working president.

The Working Committee has had different levels of in the party at different times. In the period prior to independence in 1947, the Working Committee was the centre of power, and the Working President was frequently more active than the Congress President.
