Supreme Court verdict on electoral bonds today

New Delhi: The Supreme Court will pronounce its order to-day on the plea for stay of the implementation of electoral bonds scheme under which political parties receive donations through bonds.

Attorney general K.K Venugopal had submitted that the electoral bonds scheme will curb black money in elections.

The senior counsel, appearing for the EC, said transparency cann-ot be ensured with electoral bonds which, under the proposal, can be obtained only through the SBI, which will maintain the identity of the buyer of the bonds, but the party for which the bond was obtained would be a secret.
