Lucknow: A prisoner lodged in Basti district jail has been uploading his selfies and photographs on the social media, leading to a controversy.

The inmate, Vishal Upadhyaya, is in prison on charges of attempt to murder and arms’ smuggling. He has posted his photographs with two other convicts, proving that he is using mobile phones inside the jail.

The photographs were posted on the Facebook page ‘Maafiya’ , the page and the photographs have now been deleted.

Basti jailor Anil Kumar said that it appears that the photographs were taken by a visitor’s mobile phone during visiting hours. He said that the matter was being investigated and action would be taken against those found guilty.
