UP: Bandh sees mixed response

The BSP stayed away from the protests and maintained a studied silence on the issue.

Lucknow: The bandh call given by the Congress and other parties in protest against the hike in prices of petroleum products, saw a mixed response in Uttar Pradesh on Monday.

Though the Samajwadi Party (SP) had announced its support, the party did not join the Congress in its protest. The SP, instead, held demonstrations at district headquarters on the same issue.

The BSP stayed away from the protests and maintained a studied silence on the issue.
