Lucknow: A crude bomb and a letter purportedly by Indian Mujahideen warning of revenge for the killing of Lashkar-e-Taiba “commander” Abu Dujana was on Thursday recovered from the Amritsar-bound Akal Takht Express here, police said.

The bomb was found in a toilet in the Akal Takht Express after the train was stopped at Akbarganj station in Amethi in Uttar Pradesh. Two coaches were vacated and a team of police and bomb disposal squad reached the spot and defused the bomb.

“During checking, a ‘sutli bomb’ (crude bomb) was found in a packet with two lighters and a letter in the train,” ASP B.C. Dubey said. The letter warned that India would have to face consequences of killing of Abu Dujana, LeT militant, who was gunned down by armed forces in Kashmir, earlier this month.

The letter, which was in Hindi warned, “Dujana ki sahadat ka badla ab Hindustan ko chukana padega — Indian Mujahideen”, police said. The bomb has been sent for forensic examination and the matter was being investigated, the ASP said.

The train was coming from Kolkata and was on its way to Amritsar. SP GRP Saumitra Yadav said that after the bomb was removed and defused, the train continued its onward journey.
