Blue whale challenge: Teachers save boy

A social media epidemic called the Blue Whale Challenge, has ensured that the name will be associated with fear and death.

Bhopal: Teachers in a private school in Indore in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday saved the life of a Class 8 student, a participant in the infamous Blue Whale challenge, by preventing him from jumping from the third floor.

The incident took place in the Chameli Devi high school in district headquarters town of Indore, police said.

The alleged victim of the BW challenge, also known as suicide game, was sent for psychological counseling, police said.

The incident comes weeks after a school boy took away his life while participating in the dangerous game which has claimed the lives of at least 150 young people in the world, so far.

The student of the Indore school was believed to have passed 50 stages of the game and was instructed to jump from the high-rise building as a daredevilry act, police said.

He was, however, pulled away by teachers before he took the plunge.
