Lucknow: UP’s deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma has apologized for his remark that Sita, wife of Lord Ram, was born though the test-tube technology.

“I am a devout Hindu and worship Sita Mata. I was just comparing the modern technology with ancient India and I apologize if sentiments have been hurt because of my statements”, he said at a function here.

He said that while comparing modern technology with ancient India, he had simply drawn a parallel because Sita is said to have been born in an earthen pot.

“I said that this mean that during the era of Ramayana, a concept similar to the test-tube baby existed”, he added.
