New Delhi: The Indian Army intervened to stop unauthorised road construction in Doklam in Bhutanese territory last year after efforts by both India and Bhutan — to ask the Chinese to stop “as per the existing protocols and understandings” — failed, the Indian Government has informed Parliament. The government also said that after the end of the face-off in Doklam, “there have been no new developments at the face-off site and its vicinity” and that “the status quo prevails in this area”.

Meanwhile, the Government has also informed Parliament that the Chinese Government has resumed the Kailash Mansoravar yatra through the Nathu La route in Sikkim.

Meanwhile, on Thursday evening, while addressing a gathering at the 'Chinese Spring Festival' reception at the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi, Chinese ambassador Luo Zhaohui was quoted by news agencies as saying, “New Year is like a blank book.
