New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday stayed the Madras high court order directing the Superintendent of Prison, Bengaluru and the Chairman UIDAI to produce all relevant records containing the thumb impression of former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa in a pending Election Petition filed against A.K. Bose, representing Tiruppar-ankunram constituency.

A three-judge Bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A.M. Kanwilkar and D.Y. Chandrachud stayed all further proceedings in the high court.

After hearing senior counsel V. Giri and B. Raghunath, the Bench issued notice on the special leave petition filed by Mr. Bose challenging the high court order dated November 24.

Mr Bose assailed the high court order contending that neither any application was filed nor pleaded in Election Petition filed by Dr Saravanan for any such direction. On November 17, 2017, both the contesting parties closed their respective evidences.
