New Delhi: In view of rampant ceasefire violations from Pakistan side, the home ministry has constituted a study group to look into the problems of people staying close to the international border and the Line of Control.

The group, headed by special secretary in home ministry Rina Mitra, will also comprise principal secretary (home) in Jammu and Kashmir government, divisional commissioner of Jammu region, divisional commissioner of Srinagar while joint secretary (J&K) home ministry will be the group’s member-secretary.

The group, which will interact with residents of border areas in J&K, security forces, district administration officials and local public representatives, will submit its report within two months. It will suggest recommendations on remedial measures that need to be initiated to help resolve the problems of people living in border areas.  Till August 1 this year alone, there were 285 violations by Pakistan.
