Tension continues in MP, toll rises to 7

Bhopal: Tension continued to prevail in some parts of Gwalior-Chambal region which witnessed large scale violence during “Bharat Bandh” Monday called by dalit outfits to protest Supreme Court’s ruling diluting the S, ST (prevention of atrocities) Act, 1989, for the second day on Tuesday.

While curfew has remained in force in some parts of Gwalior, Morena and Bhind districts for the second day on Tuesday, body of a middle-aged man was recovered in Raina in Bhind district in the morning taking the death toll in the Monday’s violence to seven. The deceased has been identified as Dasarath Jatav, aged 44-45 years.

“Curfew still remains in force in some parts of Gwalior, Morena and Bhind”, inspector general of police (law and order), Makrand Deoskar told reporters here. However, no fresh incidents of violence have been reported.
