Body of 16-day-old baby stolen by monkey found from dug-well

BHUBANESWAR: The body of the 16-day-old baby boy, who was lifted by a monkey on Saturday morning from Talabasta village in Odisha’s Cuttack district, was recovered from a dug-well on Sunday morning.

According to reports, some women saw the body while fetching water from the well located in the backyard of Ramakrushna Nayak, the deceased’s father.

On being informed, the police reached the spot and fished out the body from the well and sent it to Banki hospital for a post-mortem.

On Saturday morning, the monkey had stolen the baby when his mother was busy with some work in the backyard. The father of the infant was in deep sleep when the incident occurred.

Three search teams were formed to trace out the missing infant.

Monkey depredation has become a cause of concern for the local people in Banki area.
