Lucknow: Political equations in UP are changing and they are changing fast.

UP minister and president of the Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP) Om Prakash Rajbhar, who has been a constant source of embarrassment to the Yogi government, has apparently had a change of heart towards the BJP.

After hobnobbing with the SP and threatening to snap ties with the BJP, Mr Rajbhar has now said that he would offer the Aza-mgarh LS seat to former SP leader Amar Singh.

“I want Mr Amar Singh to contest from my party if the BJP gives us the Azamgarh seat,” he told reporters.

The BJP, apparently, would not mind bringing Mr Singh to the Lok Sabha through its ally. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already sent a message that he is not averse to Mr Singh’s presence when, at a recent function in Lucknow, he named the politician and said, “Mr Singh can tell you about the politicians who meet industrialists behind closed doors.”

Mr Singh, after the event, had told reporters that he would, any day, prefer “Modi and Yogi to Mayawati-Akhilesh”. He also vowed to remain with Mr Modi all his life.

The Azamgarh seat is presently held by SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav but the latter has already declared that he would contest the 2019 general elections from Mainpuri.
