For those who cribbed that UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had made himself inaccessible to the common man, here is some good news in the new year.
The chief minister has finally decided to step out and establish a contact with the common people and take a direct feedback about the performance of his government.
According to a senior official in the chief minister’s secretariat, Mr Yadav held a discussion with top officials at the year end and decided that he would not reach out to the common man.
“A feedback from the people will help him identity the problem areas. There is still a year before the elections and this feedback will help in filling the gaps and rectifying the lapses,” the official said.
In the past four years, the chief minister had confined himself to his work and office and was largely inaccessible to the common man. Even the weekly Janata Darshan at his residence was discontinued after the first few weeks of assuming power. His staff made sure that no one got to meet the chief minister unless they were sure that there would be no complaints.
The official further said that the chief minister, in 2016, would also focus on completion of ongoing developmental projects. The Samajwadi leadership feels that unless the developmental benefits reach the common man, it would not have any positive impact on the party’s fortunes in the next elections.
The chief minister will further take care of the law and order situation that is responsible for maximum criticism of his governance.
“He is going to deal firmly with law breakers even if they belong to his own party. The chief minister, at a recent meeting, said that the law and order issue should be dealt with on a priority basis,” the official disclosed.
The CM will also make a conscious effort to improve the power situation in the state because he has realised that the law and order and power situations touch the lives of all.
