At least 60 people were injured in fresh clashes after security forces foiled “azadi” rallies in different parts of the Valley on Wednesday.
The intensity of these clashes was low compared to raging face-offs witnessed during the past few days.
In southern Pulwama district however, surging crowds resisted the security forces and eventually succeeded in holding a pro-freedom rally late during the day on Wednesday. More than 40 people were injured in clashes in the district’s Murran area, reports said.
A government-owned school in Mirhama village of neighbouring Kulgam district was gutted in fire when security forces fired teargas canisters into the premises in their attempt to disrupt an “azadi” procession underway in the area.
