In an unprecedented move, about 45 union ministers will be in different parts of Uttar Pradesh on May 26, the day when the Modi government completes two years in office.

This will perhaps be the first time that so many Union ministers will be in the state on a single day. The occasion is being celebrated as Vikas Parv.

According to UP BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing a rally in Saharanpur on May 26, Union minister Arun Jaitley will be in Lucknow, health minister J.P. Nadda will be in Varanasi and external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj will be in Noida.

The event proves the importance that the BJP is giving to Uttar Pradesh where Assembly elections are due early next year.

The party, elated over its success in Assam, is determined to form the next government in Uttar Pradesh and the Vikas Parv, for all practical purposes, will herald the launch of the party’s campaign for the polls.

Party sources said that the Union ministers will inform the people about the achievements of the Modi government in the past two years and also highlight the lack of governance by the state governments.
