When it comes to alcohol, we all have our own threshold. While a few of our seasoned friends can chug down a few shots and still take the ‘walk the straight’ line challenge without as much as batting an eyelid, a few of us find ourselves politely turning down a second glass of wine because well, that’s enough for one night.

So while each person’s limit may differ, there are certain standards and portions that authorities of a country set for their tipplers, according to a US research. For instance, according to the World Health Organisation a “standard drink” is one with 10ml of pure alcohol, which is roughly the same as half a pint.

The British would however, consider 8ml as the standard measurement. Austria on the other hand doesn’t consider anything with less that 20ml alcohol as a proper drink! Sticking to the 14ml range are countries such as US, Mexico, Grenada and Chile. New Zealand is the only country that adheres with the WHO measurement of 10.
