Dudu, Haokip trebles in Goa win over Mumbai

Thongkoisep Haokip and Dudu Omagbemi scored a hat-trick each as FC Goa demolished Mumbai City FC 7-0 in the biggest win of the Indian Super League football here on Tuesday.

Dudu (41st, 63rd and 66th) and Haokip (33rd, 52nd and 79th) made merry with three goals each while substitute Reinaldo Oliveira (90th) added one more in a completely one-sided match at the Nehru Stadium here.

The earlier biggest margin win was the 5-0 thrashing of FC Pune City by Mumbai City FC in Mumbai last season.

The victory was not only a sweet revenge of the away 0-2 defeat for FC Goa but also helped them maintain their top spot in the league standings with 18 points from 10 matches. Mumbai remained on sixth place with 12 points from 10 games.

Postiga boost for ATK vs Chennaiyin

In Kolkata, bolstered by the return of marquee player Helder Postiga, reigning champions Atletico de Kolkata will be keen to change their fortunes when they face bottom-placed Chennaiyin FC in an Indian Super League match here on Wednesday.

Having struck a brace in their stunning 3-2 win against the same opponents in the ISL opener, the Portuguese World Cupper had returned home to treat his hamstring injury. In his absence, ATK struggled to get their combination right.

Ahead of their four-match home leg, Postiga’s joining the squad gives a massive boost to the side, which is on a two-match losing streak at home.

ATK suffered defeats against Delhi Dynamos and NorthEast United FC in their last two home matches. Much like ATK, Chennai too have lost back to back matches at home — against FC Goa and NorthEast United FC — as time is fast running out for the last year’s semi-finalists.
