Move over Bollywood, it’s time for the TV stars to rule the roost.

Nia Sharma

A popular London-based newspaper Eastern Eye ranked TV actress Nia Sharma as the 3rd sexist Asian woman. Last seen in Jamai Raja, Nia has beaten Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif to be up there. The 2016 edition of the annual poll was based on people’s votes that poured in from across the globe. The whole ranking system depends on how popular the person is on Internet, apart from the fan base.

Even after her work in Jamai Raja ended, Nia was in constant news, thanks to her vacation posts on Instagram. “People have taken this news very positively, have congratulated me, saying I deserve it. It makes me feel loved,” she adds.

Nia doesn’t consider herself to be sexy and has no clue why she had been ranked on the top. “To be true, I actually don’t have any idea. I don’t consider myself to be sexy and there are a lot of hotter girls out there. I am in that phase of my life where I am still grooming and trying to look good,” she says.

Everyone who knows Nia in person are really happy for her feat. “My industry and close friends haven’t called in yet, I think they haven’t taken it too seriously. But those who were not in touch like my school friends have called to wish,” says Nia.

At present, she is getting a lot of offers for web series and a few other projects. “It’s too early to comment as all the projects may start from February onwards. After the win, I also got calls from Bollywood for various projects including music videos but nothing has been finalised. From January, I will have a clear idea about where my career is going,” adds Nia.
