Abhay Deol has a knack for the uncanny: He produced the film One By Two half a decade ago to launch his then girlfriend Preeti Desai. But both the film and the relationship didn’t go as planned. Now, Abhay has been working on a multitude of ideas, out of which he is now backing a solo thriller film called Rat On a Highway that he will both produce and act in.

The film marks his return to the road. “His debut film Socha Na Tha directed by Imtiaz Ali saw him and Ayesha Takia on a road trip. This one is about a man stuck in his car on a highway, and will be directed by one of Shoojit Sircar’s assistants named Vivek Chauhan, who has been more into the ad world and had this quirky story that he wanted to tell,” says an industry source.

The Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara actor was last seen in a web film Chopsticks with Mithila Palkar, and has films like The Jungle Cry coming up for release. In addition, he will be seen as the antagonist in the south film Hero with Sivakarthikeyan.
