On Friday afternoon, Kangana Ranaut was seen at the CBFC office along with Mental Hai Kya producer Shailesh Singh. The film’s leading man Rajkummar Rao was nowhere to be seen.

Sources from the CBFC reveal that the makers of the film have been asked to change the title of the film. “No matter how much Ms. Ranaut tried to convince them that the title was reflective of the film’s burning concerns on mental health, the CBFC members were unconvinced. They felt that the title trivialised mental ailments. So they, along with the mental health experts who attended the censor screening, have asked for the title to be changed,” says the source.

Balaji Telefilms’ official spokesperson has released a statement announcing the development. It reads, “Given the sensitivity attached to the issue of mental health and our intention of not offending or hurting anyone’s sentiments, the makers have decided to change the title of the film Mental Hai Kya to Judgemental Hai Kya. Both Kangana and Rajkummar have outdone themselves in this thriller, and we can’t wait for audiences to witness it on the big screen.” The film is produced by Ekta Kapoor. The statement adds, “The CBFC has cleared the film with U/A certification with minor changes, which the makers are happy to comply with. With the CBFC clearance, the film is all set to release on July 26.”
