Though it’s been ten years since he made his debut in Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, star-kid Prateik Babbar is yet to gain a foothold in the industry. The actor, who will soon be seen in Anubhav Sinha's Mulk, says that he’s been approached by people wishing to make a film based on his late mother, the legendary actress Smita Patil.

“Yes people have expressed an interest in making my mother’s biopic, and that excites me. She was a pure soul with such a short life, and I think it would be nice to see her life on screen,” he says.

Smita, who was born on October 17, 1955, died at age of 31, within a few days of giving birth to Prateik.

But the actor says that he’s not the one who has the authority to give the go-ahead. “I am okay with it, but I don't know if my family is. I am not the person who can give the project the green signal, it has to be a collective decision. It’s a sensitive but beautiful thought,” he says.

Ask Prateik what he would like the biopic to be called, and he says, “It should be called Ek Thi Smita. I would really love that.”
