A cross-border romance film, starring Arjun Kapoor and Varun Dhawan, was apparently Karan Johar’s dream project and was going to be directed by Abhishek Varman, who had also helmed 2 States. However, the project has apparently run into the same problem as Shuddhi, with Abhishek unwilling to take up the project.

The latest news that we now hear is that Abhishek and Karan have roped Varun in for another film on brotherly bonds.

A source close to Abhishek reveals, “Abhishek was all set to direct the cross-border romance Shiddat (earlier titled Kalank) with Varun and Arjun in the lead roles but it looks like the film has been put on the backburner and the director has kick started another film and which also has Varun in it. The film will be the story of two brothers which will go on floors at the end of 2017.”

Varun, who is currently busy shooting Judwaa 2, will be able to shoot the film only later this year due to his prior commitments. When we tried contacting the director, he remained unavailable for any comment.
