Actress Shamita Shetty, who has always wanted to be associated with a cause that supports the elderly, has joined hands with Help Age India to improve digital literacy among senior citizens.

She has volunteered to interact with senior citizens and teach them how to use smartphones, email, and social media, how to send text messages, and how to click and share photos, among other things.

“Digital literacy is very important in today's time, especially for senior citizens who do not know how to operate a mobile phone and use simple features like text messaging and email. This initiative will help them understand how to use the internet and social media, and it will make them more independent and socially active. It will help them stay in touch with their loved ones and also know what's happening around the world,” Shamita says.

Not long ago, the actress attended an event organised on the occasion of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day to create awareness about the safety of elderly persons, with the aim of helping them lead a healthier, stress-free life.

According to sources, this a cause that’s she’s always been passionate about. “Shamita often visits old age homes because she feels very connected to elderly people. She likes interacting with them and promoting positive thinking,” a source says.
