Rangoon chopped by 40 mins just before release

A few days before the release of Rangoon, director Vishal Bhardwaj, along with his team, has re-edited the eagerly-awaited film and brought down its length by nearly 40 minutes. The original length of the film was two hours, 47 minutes. The change was made after the film was certified by the CBFC, to make the film tighter and more viewer-friendly. Says a source close to the development, “Everyone in the team feels that Rangoon has turned out very special. But at nearly three hours of playing time, the film was seen to be way too long for today’s generation. Vishal and his producers Sajid Nadiadwala and Viacom 18 have voluntarily decided to bring the length down by more than half an hour.”
