Gold extended weekend Box Office Collection: Movie collects whopping 71.30 crores

Gold collected 25.25 crore on its opening day, followed by 8.10 crore, 10.19 crore, 12.30 crore and 15.55 crore.

Gold, Reema Kagti's directorial venture has got thumbs up from critics as well as been acknowledged by a few fans.

Maybe that is why the movie has already hit the 70 crore mark in the first weekend of its release.

Starting from an early release on Wednesday, Gold collected 25.25 crore on its opening day, followed by 8.10 crore on Thursday, further minting 10.19 crore on Friday and going on a steady high by earning 12.30 crore on Saturday and 15.55 crore on Sunday.

The total Box Office collection of the movie over the weekend thus is now a whopping 71.30 crores.

Gold showcases the dream of Tapan Das played by Akshay Kumar, who wishes to win India’s first gold medal in hockey as an independent nation. He coaches the team for the 1948 Olympics in London, inspiring the athletes to make a mark against the British on their own turf. Subsequently, India won the gold medal on August 12, 1948.

The film has been shot across the UK and India, capturing the fascinating aspects of the pre-independent era.

‘Gold’ not only marks the first ever association between Akshay Kumar and Excel Entertainment led by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar but also is the debut of TV sensation Mouni Roy.
