Anurag Kashyap may have wanted Abhi-Ash to appear on-screen together again in Gulab Jamun, but the two are not convinced.

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Earlier, it was learnt that Huma Qureshi had walked out of Sarvesh Mewara’s upcoming movie Gulab Jamun, which is being produced by Anurag Kashyap. The actress had cited shoot delays for walking out.

And while the film was supposed to go on floors in June this year, the makers were struggling to find a lead cast, and the final draft wasn’t ready either.

Later, it was rumoured that Anurag had approached Abhishek Bachchan, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the film, as he wanted to cast a mature and married couple. Says a source, “Anurag wanted Abhishek and Aishwarya to reunite on screen with Gulab Jamun, but the couple apparently turned down the offer recently. The script didn’t excite them enough to come on-screen together.”

However, a source close to Abhishek says, “Anurag’s production house, Phantom Films, has been talking to him since quite long, but nothing has been finalised yet.”

There had been no confirmation from Aishwarya or the production house at the time of going to press.
