Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, who launched his son Hrithik Roshan with the superhit film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai exactly 17 years back on January 14, 2000, says there will be no sequel to the blockbuster.

“For me, sequels are something which can take the story ahead from where it was left off. If you look at Krrish, for instance, the later movies still follow the same story line and that makes sense,” Rakesh says.

The director is adamant that those are the only conditions under which he will consider making a franchise out of any film. “I am not using the word franchise and making a sequel just to make money. You can’t take Kaho Na Pyaar Hai ahead so we are done with it, and there will be no sequel to it,” he added.

However, the director and producer also waxes nostalgic on the completion of 17 years of his iconic film. “It’s an auspicious day for us because KNPH released 17 years back. It did well at the box office and it’s certainly a nostalgic moment because we launched Hrithik with this film. He has made me feel proud as a father, director, producer,” he concluded.
