Varun Dhawan refuses Coolie No.1 remake

Unable to recreate the magic of an old David Dhawan super hit, son Varun Dhawan insists upon an original script from his father.

There is no way Varun Dhawan will do a remake of one of his dad’s Govinda starrers.

With the industry speculating wildly about what the Dhawans will work on next, it can now be revealed that the actor has no intention of doing a remake of Coolie No. 1 or any other film made by his father in the past.

A source that wishes to go unnamed reveals, “Those David Dhawan blockbusters in the past are invincible. No matter how well Varun performs in the remake, he will be judged poorly. Why should he do a remake of Hero No. 1, Coolie No. 1, Raja Babu or any other hit of his father with Govinda or Salman? Varun did work in a remake of his father’s Judwaa. But that's it. Never again.”

We now have it that David Dhawan is working on a completely original script for his son. “It will be in the same mood and style as those beloved Govinda starrers, but not a remake,” says David.
