The last time that Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone came together on the silver screen was in 2015 for the heart-warming film, Piku. Now, the two are about to star in yet another movie — this one directed by Vishal Bharadwaj. Though the director has worked with Irrfan a few times before, this upcoming film will be the first time that he directs Deepika.

We caught the director at the launch of his wife Rekha Bharadwaj and Ustad Rashid Khan’s song Sakhi Ri. He says, “I had written the script for this film a couple of years ago and now I’m directing it. I am looking forward to working with Deepika since I love the work that she has done so far,” he said, adding, “I haven’t worked with Irrfan in a while. Though he did have small roles in my films Haider and Saat Khoon Maaf, the last I worked with him extensively was for Maqbool. So I am thrilled that I am getting to do a full-fledged feature with him.”

The film was originally supposed to be helmed by Honey Trehan, but Vishal has stepped in to take the reins since there were some creative differences between the two during the initial stages.
