The two have been aspiring to work together after Bajirao Mastani for a while, but it never comes to fruition.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Priyanka Chopra are really keen to collaborate again after Bajirao Mastani, but somehow the stars never align in their favour.

SLB was keen to cast Priyanka as the radical poet Amrita Pritam in the proposed film on her tumultuous love affair with poet-lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi, but then Abhishek (Bachchan) doesn’t work with Priyanka so it got scrapped.

We now hear that Bhansali wanted the actress to do a special song-and-dance number in Inshallah, “But Salman put his foot down about wanting Daisy Shah for the number. This was unacceptable to Bhansali,” says a source in the know. This, according to the source, was the main reason why Inshallah fell apart.

The director and actor were once best friends. Salman supported Bhansali when the latter launched himself as a director in Khamoshi: The Musical. They subsequently worked together in the iconic Hum…Dil De Chuke Sanam, but fell out when Bhansali opted for Shah Rukh Khan in Devdas.

Inshallah was meant to be the great Bhansali-Salman reconciliation. But alas, man proposes and ego disposes.
