Director John Mathew Matthan, known for his extraordinary film Sarfarosh, will be making a sequel to it with a young star. Aamir who featured in the first film may not be part of the sequel. “The makers are looking for a younger star to take over the sequel. The film has a good enough budget and therefore needs a star to back it. A newcomer won’t do. Once the actor is locked in, it will go on floors soon,” a source close to the film says. The 1999 thriller was a highly successful film that also featured Sonali Bendre, Naseruddin Shah among others.

In Sarfarosh, Aamir played the role of a tough Mumbai Crime Branch cop, Ajay Singh Rathod, who cracks down on cross-border terrorism along with his team. According to the makers, the sequel to Sarfarosh will be a different story, and aren’t sure if Aamir will have a place in it.
