At a time when the Central Board of Film Certification has been receiving flak from all quarters, actress and activist Raveena Tandon has defended the board for doing its job.

“It’s easy to hit out at the board for asking for cuts in your work. But they’re following guidelines, not carrying out a personal vendetta against any film,” reasons Raveena. “Even I have a film up for certification, for which cuts have been asked. But I see their point of view.”

Her latest film, Maatr, which tackles the sensitive issue of rape, has had its share of certification objections.

“They’ve objected to certain lines. That’s okay. We live in a pluralistic society, where many kinds of sensitivities can be offended. It’s easy to talk about freedom of expression. But we have to ensure that that freedom is not offensive to anyone,” says Raveena.
