Mumbai: Varun Dhawan might just be nine films old, but he has consolidated his immense box-office clout with his latest release, 'Judwaa 2'.

The film, helmed by father David Dhawan, is a remake of the latter's own cult 90's hit, starring Salman Khan as the eponymous twins.

'Judwaa 2' had terrific pre-release buzz courtesy the collective star pull, the very successful soundtrack and the nostalgia factor that hits hard home.

The film has managed to pull in phenomenal numbers through the weekend, with collections second only to Salman Khan's 'Tubelight' (63 cr approx.) and Shah Rukh Khan's 'Raees' (59 cr approx.).

The film, which grossed 16 cr approx on Friday and 20.25 cr approx. on Saturday, grossed a massive 22 cr approx. on Sunday, taking its weekend collection tally to 58.25 cr approx., according to boxooficeindia(dot)com.

The film, a slapstick tale of identical twins with stimulatory reflexes, had been a cult the first time round and is expected to be the biggest Bollywood of the year as well. Also starring Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu, it released on September 29.

Varun Dhawan has already had a big hit in 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania,' but Judwaa 2' has proceeded to register his best numbers yet.

It remains to be seen if the film will be successful in maintaining the momentum.
