As Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt try to decide whom to cast in the third instalment of the Aashiqui franchise, Aditya Roy Kapur wants to stake a claim to the lead role. The Aashiqui 2 actor is said to have recently met with the Bhatts in this regard.

The filmmakers were initially considering casting Alia and Sidharth Malhotra, until the two split. “Another problem is that Alia’s dates don’t match, and Sidharth on his own hasn’t impressed the Bhatts too much. Aditya’s meeting with the Bhatts indicates that they want to consider all their options before taking the franchise forward and announcing their next project. They also have a film called Jalebi and a sequel to Sadak in the pipeline,” a source from the industry reveals.

Though the Bhatts are fond of Aditya, a collaboration will only materialise if they’re able to find the right actress to cast opposite him. Meanwhile, he is shooting for Karan Johar’s Kalank.
